ADRIAAN LOUIS BAKKER
29.11.1957 - 21.05.2009
Adriaan did his trade as a Tool and Die maker with Atlas Aviation. He was also employed for a period of time by Lyttelton Engineering where he was involved with the manufacture of locally made firearms.
His love for models started in the early days of Model Mechanics development where he was employed as a machinest for Model Mechanics.
He was the co-founder of Jets-R-Us and his enthusiasm brought great ideas to the now know Gariep Fly inns.
Adriaan was just learning to fly himself and on one occasion he froze as he was landing and flew into his own legs. This caused great amusement for us all and he never lived it down. He was also always ready to help with any turbine related problems as he developed a great love for model jets over the years.
GEORGE STRICKLER
George did his trade at Atlas Aviation as a turbine technician. His love for model aircraft started when he was employed by Model Mechanics in 2002 to help develop as well as manufacture a local Model turbine.
George became very involved with the jet modellers and was always ready to help wherever he could. He had no problem to help with any jet motor whatever make or size. He went with the Jet team in 2007 to Hungary as part of the Model Mechanics team to assist Greg Casson who was taking part in the competition.
George's wealth of knowledge will not only be missed in the model fraternity but in the full size
